According to some research, you have 50 milliseconds to make a good first impression.
That means that you need to ensure that your trade show booth has a great design that can draw people in.
1. Use Bright Colors
The first thing that you can try to do is incorporate bright colors into your exhibit. However, you should only use colors that are related to your brand or in the secondary palette.
Using bright colors will draw attention and make it recognizable to visitors. If your brand has high-contrasting colors, you can use this to highlight different elements of your design along with conveying your message.
If you don’t have enough colors, then your booth might seem boring. On the other hand, if you use too many colors, then the attendees could be overwhelmed. The right amount is normally three to four colors.
If you use three colors, then you can follow the 60-30-10 design rule. This means that your primary color should take up 60% of your space.
Your secondary color will be about 30% of your space. This will help create interest and contrast with your main design.
For the last 10%, you can use an accent color. This accent color will emphasize different aspects of your booth, like the text, graphics, and elements.
When you choose the three colors, consider the culture, gender, and age of your audience. For example, if you’re targeting adult professionals, then you might want to use darker colors. If you’re targeting a younger audience, use brighter colors.
2. Extend Your Reach
You can try and extend the reach of your booth by drawing people in with different strategies. For example, if you’re hosting giveaways, make sure that they’re easily noticeable.
You can also have people handing out goodie bags, wearable, light-up trinkets, or big stickers. Give away something that people will carry around with them at the trade show. If you can get a lot of people to wear them around the trade show, then more people will want one and visit your trade show.
You should focus on finding some unique swag. Skip the USBs and the pens, but consider something that is relatable to the trade show. For example, if the trade show is in a certain area, you could have your logo and the city of the tradeshow on your swag.
Whatever you choose, make sure that your logo or contact information is located somewhere on the swag so people can contact you.
3. Make It An Experience
You should focus on making sure that your convention display is an experience that people can’t forget. One suggestion is to create a game for people to participate in.
You could also tie those games into your sales pitch. You could host a scavenger hunt as well. This would also be a great opportunity to collaborate with other booths.
When someone completes all of the time, then they could enter a raffle or win a prize. You may only be hosting the trade show for a few hours, but you want to make the most out of it when you can.
4. Use the Right Lighting
There’s no point in having a great design if people can’t see it clearly. There are all kinds of ways to use lighting to make your trade show unique and appealing.
Using the right lighting can make your products more visible and also help to emphasize your messaging. For example, you can try incorporating spotlights to highlight your products or a certain design aspect of your booth.
You could also try using accent lighting to add texture to your graphics. The ambient lighting can help create a mood and set an ambiance that you want your customers to feel.
If you have more of a fun environment at your booth, you can use strobe or gobo lights to create visual effects. You can still do this with a portable trade show booth.
5. Tell a Story
The best booths also tell a story. Almost every booth has a large header, branded graphics, and a company logo. However, many people will fail to explain their stories in a way that will encourage candidates to take action.
Customers won’t buy from you or sign up for your services if they don’t feel like they can trust you. This is why you need to showcase your brand’s story.
You might want to dig into your company story and ask yourself why the founder started the company in the first place. Are you trying to solve a specific problem or address a specific gap in products?
Why should your customers trust you? What do you do, and why should a customer care about what you do?
Do you have any competitors? If so, why is your product or service better or different than theirs? When you have an answer to some of these questions, then you can use this to inform the design of your booth.
Incorporate this story into your graphics, messaging, brochures, design, and layout of your booth.
